What products can be packed in a Pulpex bottle?
Pulpex bottles are compatible with a wide range of liquids and powders. Suitable applications include still beverages, water, soft drinks, wine, spirits, liqueurs, condiments, personal care products such as shampoo and body wash, home care products, detergents and dry goods.
What shelf life can Pulpex bottles deliver?
Pulpex bottles can deliver up to two years of product shelf life. For products that are not oxygen-sensitive, shelf life may be longer, subject to product testing and validation.
What is the shelf life once the bottle has been opened?
Once opened, product shelf life is expected to be the same as current packaging formats for the relevant product.
Can Pulpex bottles be hot-filled?
Yes. Standard hot-fill temperatures of around 60°C are not expected to be a concern while products cool after filling. Higher temperatures may be possible but require testing on the specific product and filling line.
Can Pulpex bottles be used for carbonated drinks?
Pulpex bottles are currently designed for still liquids only. Pulpex is working on a version suitable for carbonated beverages.
How can consumers tell how much product is left?
Like other non-transparent containers, the remaining contents can be assessed by look, feel and weight. Pulpex bottles are tactile and ergonomic, making it easy to feel whether the bottle is full, partly full or empty.
Can Pulpex bottles be squeezed?
No. Pulpex bottles are rigid packaging.
Can Pulpex bottles be reused?
Yes. Pulpex bottles can be reused, particularly in “on-the-go” beverage applications.
Can Pulpex bottles go in the dishwasher?
Pulpex bottles are not designed for repeated dishwasher use. A rinse with mild detergent and warm water is recommended if the bottle is being reused.
Can Pulpex bottles go in the microwave?
Pulpex does not currently recommend microwaving its bottles.
Can Pulpex bottles go in the fridge?
Yes. Pulpex bottles can be stored in the fridge.
Can Pulpex bottles go in the freezer?
Yes. Pulpex bottles can be stored in the freezer.
What happens to Pulpex bottles on an aeroplane?
Pulpex bottles have been used while flying without issue.
What sizes can Pulpex make?
Pulpex bottles can be supplied in sizes from 200ml to 1000ml, with a range of stock shapes available. Custom bottle designs can also be developed.
Are Pulpex bottles waterproof?
Yes. Pulpex has carried out testing with products such as shampoo and body wash in bathroom environments, as well as wine bottles placed in ice buckets.
Other FAQ's
Why do we need a paper bottle? Glass is great, and recyclable too.
At Pulpex, we believe consumers should decide what type of bottle they prefer to use. Glass bottles are created using a lot of energy (which can create CO2 emissions) and recycling glass also takes a lot of energy. Many glass bottles are not recycled, especially in geographies with poor recycling infrastructure. Glass bottles that aren't recycled can last hundreds of years in the natural environment and if broken can create a safety hazard to humans and animals.
