What are Pulpex bottles made from?
Pulpex bottles are made from natural fibres using renewable cellulose, the same material found in plant life. Pulpex sources fibre from certified renewable forestry.
Do Pulpex bottles put forests under pressure?
No. Pulpex bottles are made using materials from well-managed, FSC®-certified forests and other controlled sources and/or sustainably sourced wood that is PEFC-certified. Pulpex holds both FSC® and PEFC Chain of Custody certifications.
Can Pulpex use recycled paper?
Yes, Pulpex can use recycled fibre for non-food products. For food and beverage applications, food contact safety considerations currently limit the use of recycled fibre because of potential contaminants.
Does Pulpex use renewable energy?
Yes. Pulpex uses renewable-sourced electricity for all of its facilities.
Is water wasted during Pulpex bottle manufacturing?
No. Pulpex recaptures more than 98.5% of the water used in production and reuses it to make more bottles.
Do Pulpex bottles form microplastics?
No. Pulpex fibre bottles do not form microplastics because they contain no plastic in the bottle body.
What is the internal coating made from?
Pulpex uses proprietary, food-grade water based coatings designed to be compatible with the product inside the bottle. Different coatings can used depending on whether the product is oil-based or water-based.
Are Pulpex coatings PET-, HDPE- and BPA-free?
Yes. Pulpex coatings are PET-free, HDPE-free and BPA-free.
Does Pulpex use PFAS?
No. Pulpex does not use PFAS chemicals in its packaging.
Other FAQ's

Why do we need a paper bottle? Glass is great, and recyclable too.
At Pulpex, we believe consumers should decide what type of bottle they prefer to use. Glass bottles are created using a lot of energy (which can create CO2 emissions) and recycling glass also takes a lot of energy. Many glass bottles are not recycled, especially in geographies with poor recycling infrastructure. Glass bottles that aren't recycled can last hundreds of years in the natural environment and if broken can create a safety hazard to humans and animals.
